Day 77 of 365: What would I like to learn?

Day 77: What would you like to learn? I think about wanting to learn a lot of things lately.  If I had to narrow it down to one thing it would be how to paint. When I take photographs I aim to make images that look painterly. With painting you can use a crappy source photo and make it look amazing with your artistic license. When I shoot a photograph I have to look at things like, what is in the background? are there distracting telephone poles or power lines? I know I can use Photoshop to get rid of those things but unless you are very very good at it, when you enlarge an image you can spot the fix. With paintings I can ask more money for my work than I can with photography. Paintings take a lot longer to produce, of course, and maybe I don’t have the patience to see a painting through to the end. As you can tell with my verbal rambling that maybe I don’t really want to learn how to paint, maybe I just want to learn how to make more painterly photographs. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

  1. Stunning. I want to learn to let the beauty of the world soak me like rain. I think that would be an amazing life. I see it through your photos. : )

    1. I love your sentiments! Thank you for the compliment!

  2. i have no painting talent. I find it much easier to snap photographs. However, I know there is a lot of art to taking a good one. Painting, to me, is more about emotions than technique, so in my opinion, you can practice paining but “learn it” -???
