It’s About Time

Day 141 of 365: It’s About Time. I bet that is what you have been thinking about why I haven’t posted on my blog for 4 days, or maybe not. Ha! I have missed not writing on my blog, so here it goes.

Sharing a quote from BrainyQuote.com that reads, “We must not allow other people’s limited perceptions define us,” by Virginia Satir.

I find there is a lot of wisdom in this quote and here’s why. The people that label you or call you a name, do they really know you? I say they do not. We have all heard the old saying, “you can’t judge a book by its cover,” right? The people that misjudge us don’t really know us, because if they did they would not rush to judgment and give us a label.

There is a lot of name calling and judgment going around these days. I don’t know if it is because we are all so very divided? Maybe it is because we don’t feel good about ourselves and want to feel superior over someone else, so we put a derogatory label on them. It might be because we have lost sight of simple human kindnesses in this chaotic world and just don’t _ _ _ _  a _ _ _ _ about others anymore. I don’t know, but what I do know is it is very troubling!

We HAVE to be our own advocate! We cannot rely on others to define who we are and what we want to be. We need to “toot our own horn” as they say and not feel bad about it! In this “dog eat dog” world you must! Sorry for all the cliches!

Go out there, do your thing and do it well! Be the person you were put on this earth to be. Don’t make excuses. If you fall down, get right back up and keep trucking. Lastly, those who know you, know you for who you truly are, and they love you for it!!!

Have you ever been misjudged?

  1. Missed you. I’ll do my best. : )

    1. Thank you! You are so kind!

  2. It’s kind of weird, isn’t it? That you have to “toot your own horn”? Seems a bit alien to me, but we have to be our own activists. Humans aren’t one dimensional. You might be able to judge one aspect of their lives by looking at them, but you don’t really know much more beyond there. Circumstance is also an important thing we often forget about when labeling others.

    1. There is a fine line between being a self advocate and being a prideful braggart, which is not good!
