Day 145 of 365: Friendship

Day 145: Friendship! We are all so very blessed to have friends to share our lives with. I ran across this quote that really sums up what friendship is all about. This photo is from the free photo library.

“One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood,” by Lucius Annaeus Seneca.

After all, isn’t that what we all need? To have someone that “gets you,” someone who you can be yourself around and someone that knows where you are coming from. It is so freeing to be able to “just be” with someone and let everything else go. No pretenses, no explaining, no questions, no conditions.

There are some people in my own family that don’t really get me, so thank goodness for my friends. You know who you are. I view my husband as my friend, but I can’t always talk about the same things that I would talk about with my girlfriends. I thing guys would say the same about their wives versus their guy friends.

Lastly, I consider Jesus my friend. He is always there to listen to me. He understands what is going on with me even if I don’t say anything. I know He “gets me.” I can confide in Him and he accepts what I have to say and is ready to forgive me, if I ask. What better friend could someone have? His love is unconditional, no questions asked! I know He is always with me, even though I may not be thinking of Him. This fact gives me comfort. He loves me in spite of all my faults and shortcomings, which I am thankful for and not worthy of.

Who are the friends you are thankful for and who “get you?”

  1. Absolutely. We can have a hundreds of Facebook “friends”, but it does not compare to what true friendship is. Great quote you shared there.
