Day 150: Family. Sharing an awesome quote about family from Michael J. Fox, “Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.”
If you don’t have family, what do you have? Friends and coworkers can come and go, but you have your family forever. Your family knows you more than any other group does. They love you for who you are, faults and all. Thank goodness!
It is disheartening to know that there are some families out there who have members that have been alienated or disowned for various reasons. What a very sad commentary. Just remember the Hatfields and McCoys, whose families were intertwined through marriage. Instead of finding ways to mend their broken families, they CHOSE to kill each other generation after generation.
I have always had a very hard time understanding this horrible story! To me this situation boiled down to hurt feelings and pride. If they would have been able to see the whole picture and how destructive and silly and sad they had been, maybe this horrible story might have ended decades before. I am sure there were some on each side that could not come up with a good reason for the killings, they did it just because it has “always been this way.”
In the scheme of things, we are on this earth for a very short time. Why not “let bygones be bygones,” “bury the hatchet,” swallow your pride and apologize. Profess your love for one another and go on with a renewed sense of humility and kindness for one another. Besides, living with love in your heart instead of hate, is better for your health and longevity.
Living with love in your heart, instead of hate, is a message that we should all take to heart.
May you all have families that love and cherish you!
