Day 154: Change

DSC_0432

Day 154: Change, it can be a very good thing! Maya Angelou said,”If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

I think all of us knows someone who always complains. This person is a “buzz kill,” never having anything good to say. It gets tiring for those who have to spend time with people like this and it has got to be tiring for the complainer as well!

Why not change your circumstances? It is a win-win for all concerned! Life is too short to be and feel miserable. Happiness is a choice! It is a false assumption that others can make you happy. Only YOU can make YOU happy! Life is full of unfairness and disappointment, but why wallow in your woes, when you can try a smile and see where it leads. It can’t hurt, but it could certainly help. If you wear a smile, you are sure to get positive feedback from others.

I urge you curmudgeons out there to turn that frown into a smile! If you know a curmudgeon, take them out and “kill them with kindness!”

Day 112 of 365: Life and Art

misty morning fog (lg file)

Day 112: Life and Art. I often go to BrainyQuotes.com for inspiring quotes. Today I came across one about 2 things I care a lot about, Life and Art. “Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one,” by Stella Adler.

Life is full of ups and downs as we all know. The stresses of life can and do get us down. I don’t know about you but when I get down and out I tend to look to Mother Nature to defuse stress. My soul is fed when I grab my camera, hop in my Jeep and go down the road in search of beautifully lit scenery. Other people may go to the gym to work off some frustration, while others might go to seek the solace of a good friend.

In my life art is invigorating! Art means something different to each of us. Art may mean a painting in a gallery, a sculpture in a park, graffiti on a train, a poem, a song, a flower in a garden or the sun setting over the mountains. The old saying that goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” holds true for art. Whatever we think art is, it is therapeutic. Art has a unique way of transcending us from this hectic and chaotic world both figuratively and physically to a place that feeds our soul and heals our mind, body and spirit!

Go out in the world today and choose happiness, make empowered choices, live in a spirit of gratitude, seek out art and be curious and creative!

What does “art” mean to you? Where do you go to find art?

Day 96 of 365: What we need more of in this world!

Day 96: What we need more of in this world! Yesterday’s post was a bit on the negative side, so today I thought I would write about something more positive. I don’t mean for this to sound cliche, but what I think we need more of in this world is LOVE.

Our world has become so snarky lately. In America, ever since our election in November 2016 we have been living in a hate filled environment hell bent on destroying our country and our President. I have never seen any other President in my lifetime treated with so much disrespect and hatred. I may not agree with his style, Tweets and ill chosen words sometimes but he wants our country to yes become “great again.” Our country has been starting to turn around and that is a reason to be happy. There is a hatred so strong that rational vision has been BLINDED. I say that we need to open up our eyes, minds and hearts and give love a chance to enter! Filling our hearts with love helps our attitude, our outlook and our mental and physical health.

I am going to close with a wonderful quote from the bible, “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” – Proverbs 3:3-4.
