Day 138 of 365: Party Time is Here!

flax (lg file)

Day 138: Spring is party time! I would venture to say that everyone has longed for Spring after an unusually LONG winter. We are finally having spring now! The animals are excited, the humans are excited, the plants and grass are thriving! The temperatures are even warming up, not as much as I would like, but we shouldn’t be too greedy.

Spring is like finally being freed from bondage. The bondage of winter where we hole up in our homes and become couch potatoes. I used to spend more of my winters outside doing things like skiing, but my days of skiing are over. Arthritis and aging are cruel. When the temperature warms up and the sun is out, you see people come out of the woodwork. I really saw this happen in Alaska when Spring would finally arrive!

Not to change the subject, but I am going to anyway. My favorite comedian, who left this world way too soon, is Robin Williams. His passing hit me harder than any other celebrity’s death. I guess it was because I have had a history of anxiety and depression as well. I dare say he was just as talented, if not more, as a serious actor as he was a comedian! The movies, “The Dead Poets Society” and “Good Will Hunting” are just a few of the finest examples of his acting talent.

His stand-up comedy shows were hilarious, especially his “Live on Broadway” show in 2002. I invite you to watch it if you are in need of a ZILLION laughs. My favorite parts are about golf and Viagra. Now you know what kind of humor I enjoy. He is as funny as he is raunchy. I am a mother of 3 boys, so I have seen and heard it all before and am not easily offended!

Apart from a tribute to my fave comedian, I would like to share one of Robin’s many meaningful quotes, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!”

Hope you have a day full of joy, laughter and partying that a Spring day can bring! Have a great weekend!

Day 124 of 365: Sun, where are you?

Day 124: Sun where are you? Sharing a poem I wrote about that elusive golden orb in the sky.

Oh sun, Oh sun!

Where have you gone?

A sun to warm us,

to turn snow into rain,

to turn brown to green,

to beckon us outside,

to turn on the bird’s song,

I hope your coming won’t take long!

Day 117 of 365: SPRING!!!

Day 117: Spring is here, at least according to the calendar! There are many signs that spring could be here.

I have a friend who has seen a robin in north central Montana. I have been hearing a plethora of different birds singing in the morning.

The official start of spring, known as the vernal equinox is today, March 20 at 12:15 p.m., for those of us in the northern hemisphere. Today the night and the day are exactly equal in length.

I thought spring would never get here! We can celebrate that those long, dark days of cold and snow are mostly in the past, for this year. That is not to say that we won’t get any more snow, which in Montana can happen any month of the year!

Even though I am fair haired and fair skinned, I love the sun! It doesn’t always love me though. The feel of the warm sun’s rays on my face and back is so welcoming! On close inspection I notice the grass starting to green up. The animals are frisky and people get a spring in their step, attitudes improve. It’s ALL GOOD!

Go out and enjoy the first day of spring! If you are in the southern hemisphere, go out and enjoy the first day of autumn!

What will you be doing today?

Day 94: The 5 Things you need for Spring! Many of you may be TIRED of the unending winter like I am?! Snow and cold weather and wind since September, YIKES! I have had enough:( Here is my list of 5 things you need to welcome Spring:

  1. A new fun pair of sunglasses, important for style and eye health.
  2. A new pair of foot-friendly walking shoes, again important for foot health.
  3. Your camera or phone, to welcome all the green grass and delicate spring flowers that will be popping up and they will!
  4. A good friend who will go on nature walks and enjoy the sun and awesome sights with you. Tell your friend to bring a camera too! Walks are great exercise and important for physical and mental health!
  5. Bring your SUNNY attitude with you and drink in the colorful, living beauty of Spring!

If you have any ideas for what else you might need to usher in Spring, I am all ears! I realize we have more winter to come, BUT it never hurts to get ready.
